Job Title: General Operative

Location: New Holland, North Lincolnshire

Salary: £ 12.51 per hour

Hours: 42.50 per week with flexible working hours between

06:00am and 22:00

Purpose of the role:

This role focuses on providing a first-class service for our customers but

is not limited to, timber treatment the handling and transportation of

freight goods on/off vessels, HGV’s, to/from storage areas and other

operations such as de-stuffing of containers, unloading of engineered

timber goods from road vehicles and yard/warehouse operations etc.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• To operate all plant and/or equipment correctly, reporting any

defects.

• To operate Terminal Equipment in a number of applications

including operations, cargo movement/storage, treatment plants,

despatch and goods in by road. Equipment will include, but not be

limited to, forklifts, sideloaders and tractor units (Tug).

.• To maintain stock information accurately when carrying out

operations using written and verbal methods for recording stock

movements.

• Responsible for carrying out and record pre-shift plant/equipment

checks.

• To maintain good communications between other Terminal staff at

all times, ensuring issues can be dealt with promptly.

• Must comply with all site safety procedures and requirements at all

times.

• Maintain a healthy and safe working environment, observing good

housekeeping and work in accordance with the Company’s H&S

policies at all times.

• Liaise with the appropriate Supervisor to ensure the delivery of all

tasks are carried safely and react to operational instructions as may

be required to expedite any changes during the working shift.

• Assist in miscellaneous duties in other areas, some of which may

be of a manual handling nature, working at height and work of a

physical nature.

• Responsible for maintaining a flexible approach to working hours,

be prepared to work various work patterns including extended work

hours and weekend work to meet the needs of the business.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

Essential:

• Previous experience within a manual based role.

• Demonstrate excellent communication skills and ability to work as

part of a team.

• Must be flexible towards working hours.

• Ability to adhere to strict customer and manufacturer requirements

on both quality and safety.

• Must have a thorough understanding of Health and Safety in the

workplace.

Desirable:

• Previous knowledge/experience of handling timber a distinct

advantage.• Previous knowledge/experience of treatment plants (desirable but

training will be provided)

• CHIP or similar industry related safety induction (Desirable but

training can be provided)

• Current licence to drive a forklift, side loader, tug master or similar

heavy plant & equipment (desirable but training can be provided)

• Full UK driving licence or working towards gaining a licence would

be a distinct advantage.

• GCSE English and Maths
